iOS without Mac

Publishing an iOS app without a Mac

Xcode only runs on macOS, but you do not need to own a Mac. WebViewGold offers a browser-based Cloud Builder that configures, builds and uploads the app to App Store Connect, plus a Full Service option if you would rather hand the whole thing over.

Three options

WebViewGold Cloud Builder

A web app where you paste your URL, upload the icon, choose settings and click Build. The Cloud Builder compiles the iOS and Android apps and uploads to App Store Connect and the Play Console. Paid add-on with a free trial; Windows, Linux, ChromeOS and iPad all work.

Rented cloud Mac

Services such as MacinCloud give you a remote macOS desktop with Xcode by the hour or month. You then follow the standard Xcode steps from the WebViewGold docs. Flexible, but you operate Xcode yourself over remote desktop.

Full Service

Send us your URL, icon and requirements; our team configures, builds and submits the app under your developer account within 72 hours. Both platforms, approval guarantee included.

The Cloud Builder flow

Browser only, about 30 minutes plus the App Store Connect listing.

  1. Enroll in the Apple Developer Program

$99 per year, see the enrollment guide. The Cloud Builder needs an App Store Connect API key from your account to upload.

  2. Start the free Cloud Builder trial

Log in, create a project, paste your published URL, upload the 1024 × 1024 icon, set name, bundle ID, colors and the native features you want.

  3. Build

The Cloud Builder compiles the app in the cloud, handles certificates and provisioning, and uploads the build to App Store Connect (and the Android bundle to the Play Console).

  4. Finish the listing and submit

Screenshots, description, privacy policy, App Privacy answers, demo account, then Submit for Review in App Store Connect.

  5. Update when needed

Web changes need nothing. For a new icon or new native feature, change the setting in the Cloud Builder and build again.

What you still need (and what you do not)

  • Needed: an Apple Developer Program membership and an iPhone or iPad for testing (TestFlight runs on your own device).
  • Needed: screenshots. Take them on your iPhone from the TestFlight build.
  • Not needed: a Mac, Xcode, certificates created by hand, command-line tools.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Cloud Builder included in the $109 license?

No. The Cloud Builder is a paid add-on with a free trial. The license gives you the Xcode project; the Cloud Builder is the convenience layer for people without a Mac or without the wish to use Xcode.

Can I test the app without a Mac?

Yes. Upload the Cloud Builder build to TestFlight and install it on your iPhone or iPad with the TestFlight app.

What about Android?

Android Studio runs on Windows and Linux, so a Mac was never required. The Cloud Builder covers Android too if you want to skip the IDE entirely.
