Cursor + app-only UI

App-only tweaks for your Cursor app with custom CSS and JavaScript

The website needs a cookie banner, a footer with 30 links and a "Download our app" badge. The app needs none of them. WebViewGold injects a <code>custom.css</code> and <code>custom.js</code> file into every page your Cursor app loads inside the app, so the website stays untouched and the app looks like an app.

From $109 one-time per platform, or let our team do it all from $698.

Typical app-only changes

Hide website-only elements

Cookie banners, store badges, newsletter pop-ups, desktop navigation, the "Edit with …" builder badge. One CSS rule each in custom.css.

App-like layout

Bigger tap targets, safe-area padding for fixed bars, a bottom navigation (or WebViewGold's native navigation footer), hidden page titles that the app bar already shows.

Behavior changes

Rewrite external links to open in the in-app browser, call successhaptic:// after form submits, hide the web checkout for digital goods and show the IAP button instead.

Prompt for Cursor

Paste this into Cursor to implement the web-app side. Review the result, publish, then test inside the WebViewGold app.

Prompt for the Cursor agent
This web app runs inside the WebViewGold native wrapper, whose user agent contains "WebViewGold". 1) Create lib/native.ts with isNativeApp() evaluated once. 2) Find every website-only element (marketing navigation, footer, cookie banner, app-store badges, "open in app" banners), add data-web-only to it and skip rendering it when isNativeApp() is true. 3) Add a BottomNav component with four main routes, fixed at the bottom, padding-bottom: env(safe-area-inset-bottom), rendered only in the native app; hide the top nav there and pad the content. 4) Add a Playwright test that sets userAgent to include "WebViewGold" and asserts the web-only elements are absent and the bottom nav is present. Report every file changed.

Great way of converting your web app to a native app! Fast turn-around, and a great way to get your apps into the app stores without the need to develop a full native app!

Two ways to do it for a Cursor app

Pick the one that matches how you work.

  1. Option A: custom.css / custom.js in WebViewGold

    Edit the two files in the Xcode and Android Studio projects (or the Cloud Builder fields). They are injected into every page. No deploy of your web app needed; a new app build ships the change.

  2. Option B: detect the app in Cursor

    Set a custom user agent in Config.swift / Config.java (for example append "WebViewGold"), then add a body class in your web app when it is detected and style .in-app variants in your normal stylesheet. Changes ship with every publish, no app update.

  3. Combine both

    Use the user-agent class for things that change often (navigation, promotions) and custom.css for one-time clean-ups of elements you cannot easily change in the builder.

  4. Verify in review conditions

    Open the app on an iPhone and an Android phone, in portrait and landscape, and on an iPad: no desktop header, no horizontal scroll, nothing under the notch.

Starter custom.css

Adjust the selectors to your Cursor markup:

css
/* website-only elements */
#cookie-banner, .newsletter-popup, .app-store-badges, #lovable-badge, a[href*="lovable.dev"] { display: none !important; }
/* desktop navigation and footer links */
header .desktop-nav, footer .link-columns { display: none !important; }
/* safe area for fixed bars */
.bottom-bar { padding-bottom: env(safe-area-inset-bottom); }
/* comfortable tap targets */
button, .btn, a.nav-item { min-height: 44px; }

Frequently asked questions

Does custom CSS change my website?

No. It is injected only inside the app. Visitors in Safari or Chrome see the site as before.

Can I inject JavaScript libraries?

Yes, custom.js runs on every page load inside the app. Keep it small and defensive: pages of your Cursor app may load before or after your script depending on the framework.

Do I need a new store version for CSS changes?

For changes in custom.css, yes (it ships with the app). If you want instant changes, use the user-agent detection in your web app instead.

Three ways to get your app into the stores
