"We need a demo account": answering an App Review information request under Guideline 2.1
This message is not a verdict on your app. It means the reviewer could not get in, or could not tell what the app does from the outside. Reply with a working account and a clear explanation, and the review simply continues.
From $109 one-time per platform, or let our team do it all from $698.

What the message means
Guideline 2.1 asks developers to provide everything a reviewer needs to evaluate the app: a demo account when login is required, access codes for gated features, hardware or a video when a feature cannot be tested in Cupertino, and a plain explanation of what non-obvious screens do. When any of that is missing, App Review stops the clock and sends an information request.
Vibe-coded apps hit this constantly because AI builders generate login walls by default. The app you tested is logged in on your phone; the reviewer starts from a clean install, taps "Sign up", and runs into an email confirmation, a one-time code, or an invite-only workspace. Nothing in the app is broken. The reviewer just has no key.
Set up a demo account that survives review
Fifteen minutes, once, and it works for every future update.
Create a dedicated reviewer account
Something like [email protected] with a password that is long but typeable (no ambiguous characters). Never your own account: you will change its data at the worst moment.
Confirm it and turn off second factors for it
Mark the email as verified in your auth dashboard, exempt the account from one-time codes, SMS verification and magic-link-only login. If every login requires a code, add a static test code for this account on the backend.
Fill it with realistic content
An empty dashboard looks like a broken app. Add a few projects, orders, chats or posts so each screen shows what it is for. If your app has roles, provide one account per role.
Make sure it cannot expire
Exclude it from cleanup jobs, trial expirations and "delete inactive users" scripts. If you sell subscriptions, give the account the premium entitlement server-side so paid screens are reviewable.
Test it on a clean device
Delete the app, install the TestFlight build, log in with exactly the credentials you will paste into App Store Connect. Copy and paste them; do not retype.
Enter it in App Store Connect
Open the app version, scroll to App Review Information, switch on "Sign-in required", enter username and password, add a contact phone number and the notes below. Attach a short screen recording if the flow is unusual.
Auth defaults in AI builders that lock reviewers out
Supabase projects ship with "Confirm email" enabled. A reviewer who signs up never receives the mail. Either pre-confirm the demo account in Authentication, or keep confirmation on and document that the demo account is already confirmed.
Invite-only workspaces (Base44 and others)
Built-in user management can restrict an app to invited users. If your app is invite-only, invite the demo account yourself, accept the invitation, and verify it before you submit.
A reviewer has no Replit or GitHub account for your app. Offer email/password as well, or create the demo account through the platform login yourself and hand over the session-independent credentials.
WebViewGold has allowed us the shortest and most efficient time-to-market ever possible from among all the other app platforms we have ever tried during the past 5 years. I don’t know why I hadn’t discovered you sooner, but I am really, really glad I did. Currently nearing 6000 app downloads on both iOS App Store & Google Play Store without any problem!
Review notes that answer the questions before they are asked
Short, factual, structured. Reviewers read these in a browser while the app is open on a test device.

Frequently asked questions
Can I ask Apple to review without an account?
Only if the app genuinely works without login, for example a content app with an optional profile. If sign-in is required to see the core features, Apple expects credentials; "please sign up yourself" is routinely rejected.
My app uses Google login only. What do I give the reviewer?
Add email/password or Sign in with Apple for the iOS app; Google-only login also triggers Guideline 4.8. Then create the demo account with the new method and document it.
Do I have to keep the demo account after approval?
Yes. Every update is reviewed again and the same App Review Information is used. Keep the account alive and update the notes whenever you add features.
Three ways to get your app into the stores
