v0 + files

Downloads and uploads in your v0 app

A plain WebView silently ignores a PDF download and shows a bare file picker. WebViewGold saves images to the camera roll (<code>savethisimage://?url=…</code>), downloads PDFs, audio, ePub and Office files, and opens the native camera or gallery for every <code>&lt;input type="file"&gt;</code> in your v0 app.

From $109 one-time per platform, or let our team do it all from $698.

What works out of the box

Downloads

Links ending in .pdf, .mp3, .mp4, .wav, .epub, .docx, .pkpass and more are downloaded and opened with the native viewer or share sheet. Invoices, tickets, exports from Next.js route handlers and server actions, Postgres via Neon or Supabase: all fine.

Save to camera roll

Navigate to savethisimage://?url=https://…/photo.jpg and the image lands in the user's Photos app. Great for generated images, certificates and QR codes.

Uploads from camera and gallery

Every file input in your v0 app opens the native picker with camera, gallery and files. Use accept="image/*" and capture="environment" to go straight to the camera.

Prompt for v0

Paste this into v0 to implement the web-app side. Review the result, publish, then test inside the WebViewGold app.

Prompt to paste into v0
Add native-friendly downloads and uploads to this Next.js app. 1) Create app/api/export/[id]/route.ts that generates the PDF for an item and responds with Content-Type application/pdf and Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="item-ID.pdf"; link to it with a normal anchor in the same tab, no target blank. 2) Add a "Save image" button (Client Component) that, when navigator.userAgent contains "WebViewGold", sets window.location.href to 'savethisimage://?url=' + encodeURIComponent(src). 3) Implement photo upload with @vercel/blob client uploads (upload() with a handleUpload route) from a file input with accept="image/*" and capture="environment", with progress and error states. 4) Reject uploads above 20 MB with a clear message.

With a good optimized version of your web app you can have a stunning mobile app within a couple of minutes. Additionally to that the customer service is very nice and very helpful! I can just recommend WebViewGold :-)

Set it up for a v0 app

Mostly checking that your web app plays along.

  1. Serve downloads with the right headers

PDFs and files should be served with a correct Content-Type and, where you want a download instead of inline display, Content-Disposition. Signed URLs from Next.js route handlers and server actions, Postgres via Neon or Supabase storage work.

  2. Use standard file inputs

No custom upload widgets that depend on drag and drop only. A standard <input type="file"> (multiple allowed) is what the native picker hooks into.

  3. Write the permission strings

Camera and photo library usage descriptions in the WebViewGold Xcode project (and the Cloud Builder fields) must say what the app does with photos ("to upload a profile picture").

  4. Handle large files

Compress images client-side before uploading when possible (most v0 stacks have a helper for it) and show progress; mobile connections are slower than your desk.

  5. Test both platforms

Upload from the camera and from the gallery, download a PDF and an image, on iOS and Android. Each uses a slightly different system dialog.

Frequently asked questions

Why do downloads do nothing in a plain WebView?

WebViews render pages; they have no download manager unless the native app adds one. WebViewGold adds the downloader so links behave like users expect.

Can users pick multiple photos?

Yes, with a multiple attribute on the file input the native picker allows multi-select on both platforms.

Do I need to declare camera access in the stores?

Only the purpose strings and, if you store photos, the matching App Privacy / Data safety answers. No special review process.

Three ways to get your app into the stores

Same result, different amount of work on your side. All three come with the approval guarantee and 24/7 human support.
