GitHub Spark → iOS + Android

Publish your GitHub Spark app in the App Store and on Google Play

One published GitHub Spark URL, two native apps. This overview compares what Apple and Google ask for, lists the GitHub Spark-specific details, and links to the detailed iOS and Android walkthroughs.

From $109 one-time per platform, or let our team do it all from $698.

How it works

Publish in GitHub Spark

Spark no longer creates, edits or publishes apps: new apps stopped on August 4, 2026 and the export window closed on August 31, 2026. A spark published before then keeps running on its github.app address but stays frozen. To keep developing it, take the repository you exported (Create repository in the Spark workbench), replace the Spark runtime pieces and deploy it to Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages; that deployment URL is what goes into WebViewGold.

Wrap with WebViewGold

Insert the URL into WebViewGold for iOS and WebViewGold for Android, set name, icon and splash screen, switch on the native features you want. No coding.

Submit with a guarantee

App Store & Google Play approval guarantee – or your money back within 14 days. 96.4% of all WebViewGold apps get approved by the review teams on the first attempt.

Example: from GitHub Spark project to approved app

Say you built a standup tracker for small dev teams as a spark in 2025: each person posts what they did, what is next and what blocks them, with an llm() summary for the team lead. You exported it with Create repository before the August 2026 deadline, swapped useKV for a Supabase table, replaced llm() with your own model provider called from a serverless function and added email sign-in. Then you deployed it to Cloudflare Pages on your own domain and wrapped that URL with WebViewGold, turning on a local push that reminds each member to post before the daily meeting. With a demo team account in the review notes, both stores approve it. From then on you develop in your editor of choice, and each deploy updates the app.

My iOS WebView is finally approved. Thanks!!

The plan for GitHub Spark apps

Do iOS and Android in parallel: both apps use the same URL and the same settings.

  1. Publish your GitHub Spark app on your own domain

Spark hosting never supported your own domain. Connect your domain at the host where you deploy the exported repository (Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages). Do not build a new store app on a github.app address: the spark behind it can no longer be changed and may require a GitHub sign-in. Use your own deployment of the exported code.

  2. Fix the store blockers once

Privacy policy page, account deletion, responsive layout down to 320 px, no builder badges, HTTPS everywhere. Run the free readiness check to see what is missing.

  3. Configure WebViewGold for iOS and Android

Paste the URL, set app name, icon and splash screen in Config.swift and Config.java or in the Cloud Builder. Enable push notifications and the features you need.

  4. Build both apps

Xcode and Android Studio, or the Cloud Builder in the browser for both. The Cloud Builder also uploads to App Store Connect and the Play Console.

  5. Create both listings and submit

Same screenshots (per device size), same description, same privacy policy URL. Start the Google Play closed test the same day you submit to Apple so both reviews run in parallel.

GitHub Spark specifics

Stack

React + TypeScript front ends that used Spark's key-value storage and llm() AI calls, exported as a regular GitHub repository

Authentication

GitHub sign-in on legacy sparks, or your own auth (Supabase, Clerk, Auth.js) after export. Google and Facebook logins need the WebViewGold Social Login Helper inside the app; Sign in with Apple is handled automatically.

Payments

Stripe (after export to your own hosting). Digital goods sold inside the apps go through In-App Purchase / Google Play Billing (RevenueCat); physical goods keep your web checkout.

Domain

Default: yourapp.vercel.app, yourapp.netlify.app or yourapp.pages.dev. Spark hosting never supported your own domain. Connect your domain at the host where you deploy the exported repository (Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages).

Updates

A retired spark cannot be updated. Redeploy the exported repository and the app shows the new version instantly.

Builder badge

No builder badge to remove.

Store-readiness prompt

Paste into GitHub Spark, review the changes, publish.

Prompt for your coding agent (exported spark)
This repository is an exported GitHub Spark app. Prepare it for publishing as a native iOS and Android app (it will run inside a native WebView wrapper that loads the deployed URL): replace every llm() call with a server-side call to my own model provider (API key in an environment variable); replace the Spark key-value storage (useKV) with a real database and add email sign-in so no GitHub login is required; add /privacy and /terms pages linked from the footer and a "Delete my account" action with confirmation; make all screens responsive from 320px to tablet widths with 44px tap targets and no horizontal scrolling; remove external promotional links; show a retry state when data fails to load; set the title to the app name (max 30 characters). Finally, list anything that still depends on Spark.

Native features on both platforms

Documented for iOS and Android; the JavaScript calls are identical on both platforms.

What you get with WebViewGold

  • Native app project
  • Push notifications
  • Offline screen
  • App icon & splash screen
  • Share sheet & haptics
  • Deep & universal links
  • In-app purchases
  • Free updates, white-label

Frequently asked questions

Can a GitHub Spark app still be published in the App Store?

Yes, from the exported code. GitHub retired Spark on August 31, 2026: deployed sparks keep running on github.app but can no longer be edited, so a store app should load your own deployment of the repository you exported. Replace llm() and the Spark storage, deploy to Vercel, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages, insert that URL into WebViewGold and submit the native builds.

I did not export my spark before August 31, 2026. What now?

The published spark keeps running, but Spark no longer lets you edit or export it, and its llm() features stopped working. If you can still open it, treat it as a specification: describe its screens and data to Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or Lovable, rebuild it as a regular web app on your own hosting and wrap that with WebViewGold. Wrapping the frozen spark itself is risky, because nothing can be fixed when a reviewer reports a problem.

Should I launch on iOS and Android at the same time?

Yes, if you can. Both apps use the same web app, so the extra work is one more license and one more listing. Start the Google Play closed test early: for new personal accounts it takes 14 days before production is available.

Do I need two WebViewGold licenses?

Yes, one for iOS and one for Android. Each is a one-time payment with free updates. If you prefer our team to do everything, the Full Service bundle covers both platforms for $1,158.
