Firebase Studio → Google Play

Turn your Firebase Studio app into an Android app and publish it on Google Play

Firebase Studio is closing, Firebase hosting is not. Your app is still one URL away from both stores. Your Firebase Studio app already runs in the browser. WebViewGold wraps the published URL in a native Android app shell, adds push notifications and other native features, and backs the submission with a Google Play approval guarantee. You keep building in Firebase Studio; every publish updates the app instantly.

From $109 one-time per platform, or let our team do it all from $698.

  • Approval guarantee – or money back within 14 days
  • No coding needed

Why wrapping beats rebuilding for Firebase Studio apps

Google is shutting Firebase Studio down (no new workspaces since June 22, 2026, full shutdown on March 22, 2027), but App Hosting, Firestore and Authentication keep running, so a web app you built there keeps its URL. WebViewGold wraps that hosted.app, web.app or custom-domain URL: Firebase Authentication keeps working (Social Login Helper for Google, Sign in with Apple handled automatically), and you continue development in Google Antigravity, Google AI Studio or any editor without touching the store apps. A Flutter rewrite would only add a second codebase against the same Firestore data.

One codebase, real store app

The Android app loads your published Firebase Studio URL inside a native WebView. There is no second project to maintain and no code export.

Keep shipping from Firebase Studio

Deploy again (from Firebase Studio until the shutdown, then from your new editor to the same App Hosting backend) and the app updates instantly. Only changes to the native shell itself (icon, new native feature) need a store update.

Native features on top

Push notifications, offline screen, native sharing, biometric login, QR scanner, in-app purchases and deep links are single settings or one-line JavaScript calls.

Google Play approval guarantee

Google Play Store approval guarantee – or your money back within 14 days. 96.4% of all WebViewGold apps get approved by the review teams on the first attempt.

What you need

  • A published Firebase Studio app on a public HTTPS URL (yourapp.web.app or yourbackend--yourproject.us-central1.hosted.app or, better, your own domain)
  • An Google Play Console developer account ($25 one-time) to submit to the Google Play Store
  • Android Studio on Windows, macOS or Linux – or the WebViewGold Cloud Builder in your browser
  • WebViewGold for Android ($109 one-time, free updates)
  • A privacy policy page, a 1024 × 1024 px icon and 30 to 60 minutes

I am very happy I bought this app! Extremely easy and great documentation. Was in contact with the customer service, they replied very quickly and very friendly. They solved my question within a day. 10/10 would recommend.

Firebase Studio to Google Play: the walkthrough

Eight steps, no coding. Most people finish the native part in under an hour.

  1. Publish your Firebase Studio app to a production URL

Existing workspaces can still publish to Firebase App Hosting (or Firebase Hosting) until the shutdown. App Hosting serves the app on a hosted.app address, classic Hosting on web.app or firebaseapp.com. Because App Hosting itself keeps running, you can move the code to Google Antigravity, Google AI Studio or any editor and keep deploying to the same backend, so the URL in your app never changes. Workspace preview URLs are private and temporary, and they disappear with Firebase Studio. Use the deployed App Hosting or Hosting URL. Custom domain: Add a custom domain to your App Hosting backend (or Hosting site) in the Firebase console and set the DNS records shown. See why a custom domain before submission is worth it.

  2. Make it store-ready

Add a privacy policy page, an account deletion option (if users can sign up), and remove builder badges or "download our app" banners. Run the free Google Play readiness check on your URL: it flags mixed content, missing viewport tags, builder preview domains and other blockers in seconds.

  3. Get WebViewGold for Android

One-time payment, free updates. You receive the ready-made Android Studio project, or activate the WebViewGold Cloud Builder and skip the IDE entirely.

  4. Insert your URL and brand the app

Open Config.java (or the Cloud Builder form), paste your published URL, set the app name, choose your package name, upload the icon and pick the splash screen. No coding needed.

  5. Switch on native features

Enable push notifications, the offline screen, pull-to-refresh, biometric login, the QR scanner or App Links with single settings. Everything is optional.

  6. Build the signed App Bundle

In Android Studio: Build → Generate Signed Bundle. In the Cloud Builder: click Build and the signed .aab is prepared and uploaded for you.

  7. Create the Play Console listing

Create the app in the Play Console, fill in the store listing, upload icon, feature graphic and screenshots, complete Data safety, content rating and app access.

  8. Test, then submit

New personal accounts run a 14-day closed test with 12 testers first. Then promote the release to production and submit for review. Our approval guarantee covers you.

Firebase Studio-specific checks before you submit

These are the points that come up most often with Firebase Studio projects (Next.js, React, Angular or Flutter web with Firebase Auth, Firestore and App Hosting).

  • Move the project out of Firebase Studio before March 22, 2027 (Move now in the workspace, or Zip and Download); after that date the remaining workspace data is deleted. Authentication, Firestore and App Hosting are not affected, so the app in the stores keeps working.
  • Keep deploying to the same App Hosting backend after the move. A new backend or host means a new URL, and then both store apps need an update with the new address.
  • Firebase Google sign-in uses pop-ups or redirects; inside the app enable WebViewGold's Social Login Helper. Sign in with Apple through Firebase is handled automatically.
  • Add the account deletion flow (Firebase provides a "Delete User Data" extension) before you submit.
  • Add a privacy policy page; list Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics data collection in the store privacy forms.

Let Firebase Studio do the store-readiness work

Paste this into Firebase Studio and let it apply the changes reviewers look for. Review the result, then publish.

Prompt for Firebase Studio or Antigravity
Prepare this app for publishing as a native iOS and Android app (it will run inside a native WebView wrapper): add /privacy and /terms pages linked from the footer; add a "Delete my account" action that removes the Firestore data and the Firebase Auth user after confirmation; make all pages responsive from 320px to tablet widths with 44px tap targets; remove external promotional links; add a retry state for failed requests; set the title to the app name (max 30 characters).

Google Play review: the rules that matter for Firebase Studio apps

Google reviews behavior, not tooling. Nobody is rejected for using Firebase Studio; apps are rejected for the points below.

  • Minimum functionality

    Spam and minimum functionality policy

Google rejects apps that only wrap a website without the website owner's permission or that offer no real functionality. Wrapping your own product with added native features is fine.

  • Data safety

    User Data policy

Every app needs a privacy policy URL and a completed Data safety form that lists what the app and its SDKs collect.

  • Account deletion

    User Data policy

Apps that let users create accounts must offer account deletion inside the app and via a web link you provide in the Play Console.

  • Testing requirement

    Personal developer accounts

Personal accounts created after November 2023 must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 continuous days before they can request production access.

  • Target API level

    Target API requirements

New apps must target a recent Android version. WebViewGold updates keep the template current; just build with the latest version.

  • Payments

    Google Play Billing

Digital goods and subscriptions sold in the app generally must use Google Play Billing (WebViewGold supports RevenueCat). Physical goods and services may use other payment methods.

Native features your Firebase Studio app gets in the Android app

Every feature is optional and documented step by step in the WebViewGold for Android documentation.

Pre-flight checklist for Google Play

Tick these off and the review is a formality. The free readiness check verifies the technical half automatically.

  • HTTPS everywhere: Android blocks cleartext http:// traffic by default on current versions.
  • Responsive layout from 320 px to tablet widths, with predictable back-button behavior (WebViewGold maps the back button to the web history).
  • Privacy policy URL ready and the Data safety form answered truthfully.
  • Account deletion inside the app plus a web deletion link if users can sign up.
  • App access credentials for the reviewer if content is behind a login.
  • A unique package name (for example com.yourcompany.yourapp) set before the first upload: it can never change afterwards.
  • A 512 × 512 px icon and a 1024 × 500 px feature graphic.
  • At least two phone screenshots taken from the real app (tablet screenshots recommended).
  • For new personal accounts: 12 testers lined up for the 14-day closed test.
  • Signed Android App Bundle (.aab) built from the latest WebViewGold version.

Example: from Firebase Studio project to approved app

Say you prototyped a chat app for a running club in Firebase Studio: members sign in with Google or Apple through Firebase Auth, post runs in a Firestore feed and chat about routes. You published it to App Hosting, connected club.yourdomain.com and wrapped it with WebViewGold, adding report and block options to the feed so it meets both stores' rules for user-generated content. Firebase Cloud Messaging sends a push when someone replies to your run. When Google announced the Firebase Studio sunset, you moved the code to Antigravity and reconnected it to the same App Hosting backend, so the approved apps never noticed. Updates now ship from the new editor to the same URL.

Your first week after launch

  • Confirm where your code lives now (AI Studio, Antigravity or your own repository) and that it deploys to the same App Hosting backend.
  • Check Firestore and App Hosting usage after launch; app users reopen the app many times a day.
  • Use Firebase Cloud Messaging for replies and mentions first, not for general announcements.
  • Keep your Firebase Security Rules strict; the app is public the moment it is in the stores.
  • Ask for a rating with rateapp:// after a user posts their first run.

What you get with WebViewGold

A complete native app project, not a subscription. Everything below is included in the license and switched on with a setting.

  • Complete Android Studio project
  • Push notifications
  • Offline screen
  • App icon & splash screen
  • Share sheet & haptics
  • Deep & universal links
  • In-app purchases
  • Free updates, white-label

Frequently asked questions

Can a Firebase Studio app be published in the stores?

Yes. Deploy it to Firebase App Hosting or Hosting, insert the public URL into WebViewGold and submit the native builds. Firebase keeps serving auth and data, also after Firebase Studio itself has shut down.

Can I still start a new project in Firebase Studio?

No. New workspaces and sign-ups have been disabled since June 22, 2026. Start new projects in Google AI Studio or Google Antigravity (the successors Google recommends) or any other editor, deploy to Firebase App Hosting as before and wrap that URL with WebViewGold the same way.

Do I need Android Studio?

Either Android Studio (free, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux) or the WebViewGold Cloud Builder, which builds and uploads the signed App Bundle from your browser.

What is the 12-tester rule?

Google requires personal developer accounts created after November 2023 to run a closed test with at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 continuous days before the first production release. Friends, colleagues or a Discord community are enough; organization accounts are exempt.

What if Google rejects the app?

Google names the policy in question and you can fix and resubmit. WebViewGold comes with a Google Play approval guarantee: if Google rejects the app for a non-content reason, you get your money back within 14 days of purchase.

Firebase Studio is shutting down. Will my store app stop working?

No. Google says the sunset only affects the Firebase Studio development environment; App Hosting, Authentication and Firestore keep running and deployed apps stay online. Your WebViewGold app keeps loading the same URL, so you only need to move your code to a new editor before March 22, 2027.

Where should I keep developing my Firebase Studio project?

Google recommends Google AI Studio (in the browser) or Google Antigravity (a local, agent-driven IDE). To keep your existing URL, connect the migrated code to your current App Hosting backend; publishing to a new Cloud Run service or another host changes the URL and then requires a new app build with the new address.

Do I have to resubmit the app every time I change something in Firebase Studio?

No. The app loads your published URL, so content and feature changes you publish in Firebase Studio are live in the app immediately. A new store version is only needed when the native shell changes, for example a new app icon or an added native feature.

What does it cost in total?

$109 one-time for WebViewGold for Android (free updates) plus the Google Play Console developer account ($25 one-time). Optional: the Cloud Builder add-on ($349 per license, one-time) if you want to build in the browser without a Mac, or the Full Service package (from $698 per platform) where our team configures, builds and submits the app for you.
