YouWare → Google Play

Turn your YouWare app into an Android app and publish it on Google Play

Your YouWare project already has a link. Give it an App Store page and a home screen icon. Your YouWare app already runs in the browser. WebViewGold wraps the published URL in a native Android app shell, adds push notifications and other native features, and backs the submission with a Google Play approval guarantee. You keep building in YouWare; every publish updates the app instantly.

From $109 one-time per platform, or let our team do it all from $698.

  • Approval guarantee – or money back within 14 days
  • No coding needed
  • One-time payment, free updates
  • 24/7 human support

Why wrapping beats rebuilding for YouWare apps

YouWare publishes React projects with the YouBase backend (login, database, storage, functions) running under your project's domain, so the published address already is the whole product. WebViewGold wraps that address in native iOS and Android projects without touching YouBase, and Google login keeps working through the Social Login Helper. Switch off remixing and the YouWare badge first; after that, every change you publish reaches the installed apps without a store review.

One codebase, real store app

The Android app loads your published YouWare URL inside a native WebView. There is no second project to maintain and no code export.

Keep shipping from YouWare

Once a change is published in YouWare, the app shows it on the next launch, no store resubmission needed. Only changes to the native shell itself (icon, new native feature) need a store update.

Native features on top

Push notifications, offline screen, native sharing, biometric login, QR scanner, in-app purchases and deep links are single settings or one-line JavaScript calls.

Google Play approval guarantee

Google Play Store approval guarantee – or your money back within 14 days. 96.4% of all WebViewGold apps get approved by the review teams on the first attempt.

What you need

  • A published YouWare app on a public HTTPS URL (yourproject.youware.app or, better, your own domain)
  • An Google Play Console developer account ($25 one-time) to submit to the Google Play Store
  • Android Studio on Windows, macOS or Linux – or the WebViewGold Cloud Builder in your browser
  • WebViewGold for Android ($109 one-time, free updates)
  • A privacy policy page, a 1024 × 1024 px icon and 30 to 60 minutes

Great work! Never coded anything but managed to work with this. Easy and fast! Also with great help from the creators!

YouWare to Google Play: the walkthrough

Eight steps, no coding. Most people finish the native part in under an hour.

  1. Publish your YouWare app to a production URL

Click Publish in the top-right corner of your YouWare project. YouWare puts the project live on a shareable youware.app address (for example abc.youware.app) with SSL included. Open the live address after each change to confirm it shows the latest version. Use the published youware.app address or your custom domain, not the editor view. If you copy a link from the Share dialog, take the fullscreen link: the standard link shows your project with a YouWare header and description around it. Custom domain: Custom domains are available on the Pro and Ultra plans: publish the project, open Custom Domain in the project settings, click Add Domain, add the TXT and CNAME records YouWare shows at your DNS provider and click Verify. See why a custom domain before submission is worth it.

  2. Make it store-ready

Add a privacy policy page, an account deletion option (if users can sign up), and remove builder badges or "download our app" banners. Run the free Google Play readiness check on your URL: it flags mixed content, missing viewport tags, builder preview domains and other blockers in seconds.

  3. Get WebViewGold for Android

One-time payment, free updates. You receive the ready-made Android Studio project, or activate the WebViewGold Cloud Builder and skip the IDE entirely.

  4. Insert your URL and brand the app

Open Config.java (or the Cloud Builder form), paste your published URL, set the app name, choose your package name, upload the icon and pick the splash screen. No coding needed.

  5. Switch on native features

Enable push notifications, the offline screen, pull-to-refresh, biometric login, the QR scanner or App Links with single settings. Everything is optional.

  6. Build the signed App Bundle

In Android Studio: Build → Generate Signed Bundle. In the Cloud Builder: click Build and the signed .aab is prepared and uploaded for you.

  7. Create the Play Console listing

Create the app in the Play Console, fill in the store listing, upload icon, feature graphic and screenshots, complete Data safety, content rating and app access.

  8. Test, then submit

New personal accounts run a 14-day closed test with 12 testers first. Then promote the release to production and submit for review. Our approval guarantee covers you.

YouWare-specific checks before you submit

These are the points that come up most often with YouWare projects (React by default (an HTML/CSS/JS mode exists for simple static pages), with YouBase for login, database, storage, secrets and server-side functions).

  • Published projects can be remixed by default: anyone with the link can copy the project and publish their own version. Turn Remix Permissions off (paid plans) before you launch the store app, so nobody republishes a look-alike of it.
  • Do not switch on Private Projects for the app's project: it puts a four-character password in front of the published link, and the reviewer would see a password screen instead of your app.
  • Google login from YouBase is blocked inside an embedded WebView ("disallowed_useragent"). Enable WebViewGold's Social Login Helper so the Google step runs in a login window the provider accepts and returns to the app.
  • If people can create accounts, add a privacy policy page and an in-app "Delete my account" action that removes their YouBase user and data: both stores require them for apps with sign-up.
  • YouWare badge: Switch on Remove YouWare Badge in the project's share settings (a paid-plan option) before you build the app, so no branding of another platform floats over your store app. More on builder badges.

Let YouWare do the store-readiness work

Paste this into YouWare and let it apply the changes reviewers look for. Review the result, then publish.

Prompt to paste into YouWare
Prepare this project for publishing as a native iOS and Android app (it will run inside a native WebView wrapper):
1. Add /privacy and /terms pages with placeholder text I can edit and link them from the footer and the account screen.
2. Add a "Delete my account" button in the account settings that deletes the user's YouBase data and user account after a confirmation dialog.
3. Make every screen responsive from 320px to iPad widths, with no horizontal scrolling and tap targets of at least 44px.
4. Remove external promotional links, "Download our app" banners and any links back to the YouWare community from the main navigation.
5. Show a friendly retry message when data fails to load instead of a blank screen.
6. Set the <title> to the app name (max 30 characters) and add a meta description.

Google Play review: the rules that matter for YouWare apps

Google reviews behavior, not tooling. Nobody is rejected for using YouWare; apps are rejected for the points below.

  • Minimum functionality

    Spam and minimum functionality policy

Google rejects apps that only wrap a website without the website owner's permission or that offer no real functionality. Wrapping your own product with added native features is fine.

  • Data safety

    User Data policy

Every app needs a privacy policy URL and a completed Data safety form that lists what the app and its SDKs collect.

  • Account deletion

    User Data policy

Apps that let users create accounts must offer account deletion inside the app and via a web link you provide in the Play Console.

  • Testing requirement

    Personal developer accounts

Personal accounts created after November 2023 must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 continuous days before they can request production access.

  • Target API level

    Target API requirements

New apps must target a recent Android version. WebViewGold updates keep the template current; just build with the latest version.

  • Payments

    Google Play Billing

Digital goods and subscriptions sold in the app generally must use Google Play Billing (WebViewGold supports RevenueCat). Physical goods and services may use other payment methods.

Native features your YouWare app gets in the Android app

Every feature is optional and documented step by step in the WebViewGold for Android documentation.

Pre-flight checklist for Google Play

Tick these off and the review is a formality. The free readiness check verifies the technical half automatically.

  • HTTPS everywhere: Android blocks cleartext http:// traffic by default on current versions.
  • Responsive layout from 320 px to tablet widths, with predictable back-button behavior (WebViewGold maps the back button to the web history).
  • Privacy policy URL ready and the Data safety form answered truthfully.
  • Account deletion inside the app plus a web deletion link if users can sign up.
  • App access credentials for the reviewer if content is behind a login.
  • A unique package name (for example com.yourcompany.yourapp) set before the first upload: it can never change afterwards.
  • A 512 × 512 px icon and a 1024 × 500 px feature graphic.
  • At least two phone screenshots taken from the real app (tablet screenshots recommended).
  • For new personal accounts: 12 testers lined up for the 14-day closed test.
  • Signed Android App Bundle (.aab) built from the latest WebViewGold version.

Example: from YouWare project to approved app

Say you built a daily word puzzle in YouWare: one new puzzle every morning, a streak counter and a weekly leaderboard. YouBase anonymous accounts let people play right away, and an optional email account keeps the streak when they change phones. You upgrade to Pro, connect puzzle.yourdomain.com, remove the YouWare badge, switch off remixing and wrap the address with WebViewGold. A local push scheduled with sendlocalpushmsg:// announces the new puzzle each morning, successhaptic:// gives a small buzz on a solved word, and shareapp:// lets players send their result to friends. Reviewers can play without signing up, both stores approve the app, and every change you publish shows up the next morning.

Your first week after launch

  • Publish fixes in YouWare and open the live address once afterwards, to confirm it shows the latest version.
  • Keep Remix Permissions off; a look-alike remix of your public project can confuse players and reviewers.
  • Schedule the morning reminder once a day and let players switch it off in the settings; a puzzle app that nags gets uninstalled.
  • Watch YouBase usage on launch days, since a game that spreads through shared results can bring many players at once.
  • Ask for a rating with rateapp:// after a seven-day streak, when players like the app most.

What you get with WebViewGold

A complete native app project, not a subscription. Everything below is included in the license and switched on with a setting.

  • Complete Android Studio project
  • Push notifications
  • Offline screen
  • App icon & splash screen
  • Share sheet & haptics
  • Deep & universal links
  • In-app purchases
  • Free updates, white-label

Frequently asked questions

Can a YouWare project be published in the App Store and on Google Play?

Yes. Publish it, enter the youware.app address or your custom domain as the app URL in WebViewGold and build the iOS and Android apps. Apple and Google judge what the app does, not which tool wrote it, so make it feel like an app: responsive screens, no YouWare branding, and native extras such as push notifications.

Do I need to download the YouWare code to make an app?

No. WebViewGold loads your published URL, so the project keeps running on YouWare and YouBase. Code download is a Pro feature and is not available for remixed projects, but the wrap does not need it.

Do I need Android Studio?

Either Android Studio (free, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux) or the WebViewGold Cloud Builder, which builds and uploads the signed App Bundle from your browser.

What is the 12-tester rule?

Google requires personal developer accounts created after November 2023 to run a closed test with at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 continuous days before the first production release. Friends, colleagues or a Discord community are enough; organization accounts are exempt.

What if Google rejects the app?

Google names the policy in question and you can fix and resubmit. WebViewGold comes with a Google Play approval guarantee: if Google rejects the app for a non-content reason, you get your money back within 14 days of purchase.

Can App Store reviewers use my YouWare app without creating an account?

Yes, if you use YouBase's anonymous temporary accounts or allow guest play. That matches Apple's guidance that apps without significant account-based features should work without a login (Guideline 5.1.1). If parts of the app still need an account, add a demo login to the review notes as well, and keep in-app account deletion for the users who do sign up.

Do I need a paid YouWare plan for a store app?

In practice, yes. YouBase (login, database, storage, functions) needs a Pro or Ultra plan, custom domains are a Pro and Ultra feature, and removing the badge and turning off remixing are paid options. A simple static project could be wrapped on the free plan, but a store app with a floating badge, a remixable project and no domain of its own is hard to maintain and invites reviewer questions.

Do I have to resubmit the app every time I change something in YouWare?

No. The app loads your published URL, so content and feature changes you publish in YouWare are live in the app immediately. A new store version is only needed when the native shell changes, for example a new app icon or an added native feature.

What does it cost in total?
